On the West coast and far to the south of Corfu lies the village of Marathias. At his feet is the golden Beach. It connects two beaches, the Marathias beach and the Santa Barbara Beach. The border is a small water run into the sea. It is a pleasure to walk barefoot here, towards Agios Georgios Agirades and in the south to Vitalades. Here guests of this unusual family hotel on Corfu can enjoy the wonderful nature, the beach and the sea air, or even collect stones and mussels. The gently sloping fine sandy beach is especially ideal for children to play in the water and build sandcastles. With a lot of luck, the families can even observe the sea turtles Caretta caretta while hatching. For safety, equipment and environmental work, the beach has been awarded the Blue flag several times. The family-friendly accommodation villa KaliMeera in Corfu’s south is about a 10-minute walk from the beach. The House by the Sea is therefore ideal for a bathing holiday with children.

Would you like to book a child-friendly hotel in Corfu? Then you are exactly at the right address. The Villa KaliMeera is perched in the midst of meadows and olive trees on a small hill. Due to this special location, the child-friendly accommodation on Corfu offers a magnificent view in all directions, to the sea and over the many olive groves. Experiencing the sunset here is a force. Terraces and gardens offer comfortable seating and hammocks, so you can always find a quiet spot for a good book. Children have a lot of freedom of movement and discover the nature around the villa, for example in the shady ’ magic forest ’, or meet in the tipi. However, Villa KaliMeera is not an ordinary family hotel on Corfu. Learn more below.

All the accommodation units of the child-friendly hotel on Corfu overlook the sea. There are eight studios and five apartments. The approx. 18 sqm Twin Studios have a balcony or terrace, refrigerator, air conditioning (for a fee) and new bathrooms with shower/WC. An extra bed is available in most studios. Larger families with children can use two studios next to each other with a connecting balcony. The approx. 36 sqm 3- room apartments have two bedrooms, a small lounge, fridge, air conditioning (for a fee) and also new bathrooms with shower/WC and a large balcony or terrace. The accommodation units are located on the ground floor and the upper floor.

If you want to cook something for yourself at noon, you can use one of the two communal kitchens.

The studios at the Thalassa House (approx. 130 meters from Villa KaliMeera) are similarly equipped and also have a view to the sea. The studios in Haus Spyros (approx. 130 meters from Villa KaliMeera) are a little bigger, have a cooking possibility and look to the olive groves.

Feasting with sea view in the south of Corfu

A family holiday in Greece also includes the enjoyment of Greek cuisine. On the sun terrace of the child-friendly hotel on Corfu, you will find a delicious breakfast buffet in the morning that tastes all family members. Typical Greek fish or meat dishes as well as vegetarian delicacies, including table water, are available on six evenings per week. On the seventh evening, the taverns in the bay are looking forward to your visit. At the end of the dinner the guests always sit at the campfire, sometimes with spontaneous guitar music. Some of the food comes from our own garden. There are chickens and sheep on the premises.

Corfu-family trip with children’s programme

As in the north of the island, in the Honigtal on Corfu, we also offer an exciting and creative programme for parents and children in the Villa KaliMeera: Nature is the focus of this House by the sea. Together with the children we hike through the olive groves. What we find-branches, stones or leaves-we take for tinkering in the children’s program. We cook with a solar cooker or go on Pirates treasure hunt. With the older ones it will also be sporty or we "Chill" on the beach. For the little ones we offer an infant care after arrangement. Creative, sporty or informative free offers for parents and children, such as Viking Chess or a campfire evening on the beach, are part of the varied programme. A guided half-day excursion with information about agriculture on Corfu and a small Griechischkurs for adults are already included in the tour price.

Family holiday with relaxation programme

On three days a week we offer a small relaxation program with autogenic training or yoga.

Acommodation and meals

Small guest complex with 13 accommodation units:
Eight studios (approx. 20 sqm) with two beds (1 extra bed possible in some studios), fridge, bathroom with shower/WC and balcony/terrace. Some studios are connected by balconies.
Five 3-room flats (approx. 40 sqm) with 2 bedrooms for 2 or 3 persons, fridge, bathroom with shower/WC and large balcony/terrace.
Further studios are available in the houses of Thalassa and Spyros (approx. 130 m away).

Distance from the beach is approx. 500 m; for the way to the beach you can use our wagons free of charge!
As part of the half-board, there is a delicious breakfast buffet and in the evening typical Greek dishes including table water. Additional drinks and small snacks at fair prices are available at the bar at a charge (price changes possible).
If you wish to have a vegetarian meal, please order it at the time of booking.
Allergies/Food intolerances: If you have specific wishes regarding the food, please let us know before you travel. Our chef will respond to special requests as far as possible. Please understand that we are happy to provide special foods (e.g. soy milk, spelt bread) but do not offer them as part of the regular half-board and have to charge additional costs.

In the office you can rent practical things free of charge like Fön, a backpack for hiking with children, baby monitor, potty, umbrella etc.
A mini-market is located about 200 m away.

The buffet breakfast is available from 7:30 am to 11:00 pm. An early morning breakfast service is available on request. We are happy to pack your breakfast to take away. The snack bar with small dishes and drinks is open from 11:30 to 16:00 and 18:00 to 23:00 hrs.
Dinner is available from 20:00 pm. We ask you not to bring your own drinks to the roof terrace and the dining area and not to take any food from the buffet to the room.
A communal kitchen is also available on each floor.

For children

The Children’s programme (11 hours/week, 3-12 years) is included for our guests (season periods see services). Children do not only want to be entertained, but also to create a hand. We design the children’s programme playfully with a methodical structure, a lot of initiative and imagination. We hike through the olive groves, collect natural materials, firewood, look for animals, like tortoises, which we observe. With a solar cooker we learn to use alternative energies and cook delicious things. While the children play with like-minded children, the parents find time to realize their own holiday wishes. Please note that children can only participate in the program if they are ’ diaper free ’.
Depending on the composition, needs and group size, we remain flexible with the program for the older kids: sports tournaments, theatre play with the hero Hercules and the protection goddess Athene, acrobatic feats, creative workshops that sharpen the senses for the Beauty of nature. Or we make a cozy campfire at night on the beach with riddles-it won’t be boring for us! We can talk about different topics that we are dealing with, get a glimpse of the "giraffe language" or just creatively "hang out" and let the soul and legs dangle....
Babysitting or toddler care are also available on site (€5/hour and child).

Leisure and surroundings

Boat tours to the neighboring island of Paxos can be booked from Lefkimmi.
Rental bicycles are available at the hotel for a fee.
Bus: A public bus runs to Kerkyra (Corfu town) twice a day. Bus Stop 300m
In Agios Georgios Argirades (3 km) there are various water sports facilities such as kite surfing, windsurfing, boat rental.
Guided hikes and mountain bike tours (incl. bike): From 3 participants, from €15 per person.
On the beach there are changing rooms, fresh water showers and various taverns and beach bars available; Sun beds and parasols for a fee

Medical care: A health Center (small hospital) is in Lefkimmi (7 km).
On Lake Halikounas is a friendly organic farm. You can register them there for a day cooking course "natural cooking and Living ": K orfiotische pita in wood oven, sourdough bread with basil, hike through the lagoon and all about organic farming in Greece

Climate

The island of Corfu has a mild Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summer months and mild, humid winters. In the period from October to April, 85% of the annual rainfall drops, which makes it raining only rarely from May to September. In winter, snow also falls in altitudes, as on the 900 m high mountain Pantocrator. Cooling winds ensure a pleasant, balanced climate on Corfu during the warm summer months.

The classic time for the island of Corfu is from May to October. Often in May the sea water is still too cool for bathing, for this the Green Island delights with its colour and blossom splendour. Until autumn the Mediterranean Sea attracts with pleasant bathing temperatures, in October the water is still 21 degrees warm. Between June and September it hardly rains. Also as a winter destination, Corfu is well suited for holidaymakers seeking relaxation. The daily temperatures are around 15 degrees even in January and February, with a daily average of 4-5 hours of sunshine.

Nicolai is a geographer and enjoys exploring nature, preferably hiking. It is also for bike tours. If he’s not just out there, he likes to do music. In the villa KaliMeera he leads the office and is happy to meet new people and to explore the island with the small and large guests and share his passions.

Verena Reichel

Verena is a biologist and a natural educator. She loves to be in nature and is very happy to discover the peculiarities of the korfotischen flora and fauna with the small and big guests, to get all the senses in the way and to have a lot of fun. Her passions include cycling (travelling), acrobatics, cooking, singing and the economics of happiness. In the villa KaliMeera she leads the children’s programme and will provide a relaxing trainer for enough chill-out time.

Maria is a social educator and is looking forward to an exciting time in Corfu with our small and large guests. Together with Verena She runs the children’s programme and ensures fun and games. She prefers to be outside, stretches a slackline between the trees, climbs on rock walls or takes bicycle and hiking tours.

Kostas originally started with us as a gardener and janitor. He has learned to appreciate the Villa KaliMeera and the team and is now leading the restaurant with his wife Magda and team.

By train/car and ferry: Train to Ancona (travel time e.g. from Munich approx. 11 hrs.). Alternatively, drive to Ancona (distance from Munich approx. 800 km, travel time approx. 8 hrs.). Ferry ride from Ancona via Igoumenitsa to Corfu- Stadt or Lefkimi (duration depending on the connection approx. 24 hours). Various ferries run between Igoumenitsa and Corfu in about an hour.
By plane: Flight to Corfu Airport. Continue with rental car or taxi transfer to Marathias, journey time approx. 1 hour climate conscious travel: Fly Atmosfair!
